The Effective Evangelist

To be effective in the field of soul winning, we must follow the example of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

In His evangelistic work, Our Lord covered many grounds, visited about 240 cities and villages; preached to multitudes of people; won many souls into God’s kingdom; healed many diseases and sicknesses; and cast out many demons. Matthew 4: 17 – 25. Below is the reason for His success.

First, He was a man of prayer, Mark 1: 35; Luke 4: 1 – 14; 6: 12.

We must become men and women of prayer to win many people into the kingdom of God. Luke 18: 1; 1 Thessalonians 5: 17

Second, He was a man of the Word, Luke 4: 1 – 8.

We should have and maintain a consistent study of the word of God. 2 Timothy 2: 15

Third, He was holy, John 14: 30.

We are called to live a holy life by walking and manifesting the fruit of the Spirit, 1 Peter 1: 14 -16; Galatians 5: 22 – 25.

Fourth, He was a man of Power, Act 10: 38

We need the power of the Holy Ghost in our life, Luke 24: 49, Acts 1: 8

Fifth, He was full of compassion upon the sinners, Matthew 9: 35

We must be driven by passion to reach the sinners for Christ, Romans 9: 1 – 3; 10: 1.

He was a man of singular purpose and focus; John 4: 34 – 37; 9: 4.

We should be determined to give everything we have, including our resources to rescue the perishing, Acts 20: 24; Philippians 3: 7.
